IPL 2023 Mini Auction: THIS 15-YEAR-OLD MYSTERY SPINNER FROM AFGHANISTAN MAY BE THE YOUNGEST IPL SELECTION EVER
Meet the IPL 2023 Mini Auction‘s youngest-ever registered player, a mystery spinner from Afghanistan’s Paktia province.
The IPL 2023 mini auction is fast approaching and ten teams will be locked in a bidding war to find the best team for the upcoming Indian Premier League. In this edition, he may be the youngest ever in the history of the league. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is from Afghanistan.
He is only 15 years old. Among those listed for auction is Ghazanfar. However, it will be interesting to see if he makes the cut as only 87 slots from the list of 405 players listed in the auction to be held in Kochi on December 23 are up for grabs.
Not to mention, Ghazanfar put his name forward for Big Bash League auctions but was not selected. He is quite tall and hails from Afghanistan’s Paktia province. He stands 6 feet 2 inches tall. His starting price is Rs 2 lakh.
Ghazanfar idolises R Ashwin, and his bowling motion is similar to that of Mujeeb Zadran. “Ashwin has been a champion spinner for India, and I enjoy his variations. “He has always been an inspiration to me,” Ghazanfar told Sport-star from Kabul on Tuesday.
“I started with tennis ball cricket and would play in my neighbourhood, but under the guidance of my coach, I started bowling spin and soon developed an action, and there hasn’t been any looking back since,” the youngster explained.
Language will be one of the most difficult issues he will face in India. He does not understand Hindi, unlike his country’s other stars Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi.
“I have played a lot of junior crickets, and my ultimate goal is to play for Afghanistan. The IPL will improve my game because I will be able to learn a lot from Indian and international players and I am looking forward to the experience. “I hope to be drafted by a team,” he said.
