Police in Latur district have registered a case against Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Dipke and others for allegedly entering a government school without permission, disrupting official work and threatening teachers. The First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Ausa police station on a complaint filed by Sayyed Shamshadbano Khairatali (53), a teacher at a Zilla Parishad Urdu school in Jawali near Ausa, over 500 km from Mumbai.
What the complaint alleges
According to the complaint, Dipke and his associates entered the school without permission, sat among students and asked them various questions, thereby causing obstruction to educational and government work. The teacher alleged that the group filmed the proceedings inside the school without authorisation and later shared the video on social media. the teachers suspended, the complaint stated.
Dipke’s “School Theek Karo” campaign
The visit was part of the CJP’s ongoing “School Theek Karo” (Fix The Schools) campaign, under which Dipke and his team have been inspecting government schools across Maharashtra to highlight infrastructure gaps, teacher absenteeism and alleged irregularities. During the Ausa visit on August 20, Dipke claimed that authorities had brought in “dummy students” from other institutions to cover up shortcomings and present a favourable picture. He also alleged that liquor bottles were found on the school premises, a claim school authorities rejected. Dipke has demanded the resignation of state School Education Minister Dada Bhuse and immediate action against block education officers.
A pattern of confrontations
The Latur case comes amid a series of confrontations between CJP activists and local authorities during school inspections. In Jaipur, Rajasthan, CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and his team alleged they were attacked while trying to visit a government school operating out of a buffalo shed. Cross-FIRs were filed after the incident, with both sides accusing each other of assault and creating a ruckus. The CJP has framed these visits as citizen-led audits of public institutions, while critics argue that unauthorised entry and filming during school hours disrupts education and intimidates staff.
