On the India-China border dispute, Congress cites a 1962 debate, while Owaisi attacks the Prime Minister. What was said by who?
The December 9 clash came amid ongoing border tensions between the Indian Amy and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in the sensitive Ladakh sector.
The opposition parties have stepped up their criticism of the BJP-led central government following a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers along the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh.
The ongoing winter session of Parliament was disrupted when opposition MPs filed an adjournment motion demanding that the border clash be discussed. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, said the government should issue a statement on the ongoing controversy.
“China has taken over our land.” They’ve arrived in Arunachal Pradesh after travelling through Ladakh and Uttarakhand. “We have a right to know the government’s plans to combat China’s conspiracy,” Chowdhury said, according to the sources.
Demanding a debate in Parliament, Congress media and publicity department chairperson Pawan Khera pointed out that during the Indo-China war of 1962, Parliament held a debate in which the opposition launched sharp attacks. Nobody called Atal Bihari Vajpayee “anti-national” for marching against the government in front of the Parliament Street police station, he added.
“When China enters Ladakh, the Prime Minister, while saving China, claims that no one has entered.” When China establishes a village of 100 houses in Arunachal, it is said that the area has been disputed since 1959. After all, why are Modi Ji and his illiterate followers always seen defending China?” Khera stated in another tweet.
“The question is not whether the Galwan Clash occurred or whether the Yangtze Clash occurred,” Congress MP Manish Tewari tweeted. Why is this happening? What do the Chinese really want? Do we have a sense of their intentions? The why is crucial. Otherwise, we have a battle-hardened Armed Force to protect them.”
“Our external affairs minister, S Jaishankar, stated that old relations will not be restored until peace on the border is restored; however, we see that our Prime Minister gets up and meets with the Premier of China; why is there a need to show such weakness? The truth is that China’s PLA occupies 1,000 square kilometres of Ladakh, and our government says nothing when American generals visit and report on what is happening on the border “said AIMIM’s Owaisi.
Owaisi said in a series of tweets that China increased PLA strength along the LAC across Arunachal Pradesh by 75%, and he wondered why India didn’t do the same.
“China has learned from the experiences at Doklam, Depsang, Galwan, and Demchok that @PMOIndia will never accept this invasion and will spin a different story through his friendly media.” As a result, China continues to invade invisibly, bit by bit,” Owaisi tweeted.
Today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address both houses of Parliament about the clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Tawang. Union Minister Piyush Goyal told reporters that Singh will brief the Lok Sabha at 12 noon and the Rajya Sabha at 12:30 pm on the issue.
After the defence minister’s statement, TMC MP Derek O’Brien urged Rajya Sabha’s deputy chairperson to allow a debate in the House.
