Prime Minister Modi Addresses Rally in Gwalior
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, where he expressed his concern over the Congress party’s continued reliance on old tactics, including exploiting the sentiments of the poor, dividing society along caste lines, and glorifying a single family for political gain.
In his speech, PM Modi emphasized that the Congress’s approach to politics has remained unchanged for decades. He observed that the party still seeks votes by appealing to the emotions of the underprivileged and perpetuating divisions based on caste, just as it did six decades ago. Furthermore, he noted that the Congress’s fixation on glorifying one family has persisted over the years.
PM Modi inaugurated several projects and dedicated others worth over Rs 19,000 crore during the event. Among these projects was the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway, which traverses multiple districts in Madhya Pradesh.
He criticized the Congress for having an anti-development mindset and for lacking a clear roadmap for the country’s progress. PM Modi asserted that the Congress seemed uncomfortable with India’s growing stature on the international stage. While the world views India’s future with optimism, the Congress appears to be primarily concerned with its political future.
PM Modi highlighted his government’s achievements, underscoring that India has risen to become the fifth-largest economy in the world over the last nine years. He also set an ambitious goal of making India one of the top three economies globally within the next five years. PM Modi compared this rapid progress to the Congress’s 60-year rule, during which he claimed they failed to achieve similar economic growth.
During his speech, PM Modi pointed to instances of corruption, scandals, crimes, and atrocities against women, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes during the Congress’s six-decade rule. He cited the poor quality of houses built under previous Central housing schemes, contrasting them with the houses constructed under his government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. These newer houses come equipped with essential amenities such as toilets, electricity, clean water, and LPG connections under the Ujjwala Yojana.
PM Modi highlighted the impressive achievement of providing four crore houses to beneficiaries across the country through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He emphasized that this initiative aimed to transform houses into homes with all the necessary facilities, improving the living conditions of millions of families.
Women’s empowerment was another key focus of PM Modi’s speech. He argued that it should be considered a nation-building mission rather than a mere political agenda. PM Modi credited his government with passing the long-pending Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, providing 33 percent reservation for women in legislative bodies. He asserted that no other party had achieved this feat, emphasizing his commitment to empowering women.
PM Modi pointed out the transformation of Madhya Pradesh under BJP rule. He mentioned how the state had progressed from being labeled as ‘Bimaru’ (laggard) during the previous Congress government to becoming one of the ten best-developed states in India under BJP governance.
Gwalior-Chambal, the region where PM Modi addressed the rally, was described as the ‘land of brave hearts.’ He highlighted its rich history of producing freedom fighters and its significant contribution to the security of the country. PM Modi praised the region’s cultural heritage, including its musical traditions and mustard cultivation.
PM Modi acknowledged Gwalior’s role in shaping BJP’s policies and leadership. He contrasted the region’s backwardness during Congress rule with the development witnessed under BJP governance.
In his closing remarks, PM Modi cautioned the people against the potential disruptions to the state’s development if the Congress were to come to power. He urged the audience to ensure that the BJP’s double-engine governments, both at the state and central levels, continued to work together to drive the state’s rapid progress.
Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Gwalior provided a platform for him to critique the Congress’s political strategies, highlight his government’s development initiatives, and rally support for the BJP’s vision of a prosperous and empowered India.
