Uddhav Thackeray receives advice from Sharad Pawar after losing the Shiv Sena symbol.
According to Sharad Pawar “The Election Commission made that choice. There can never be a discussion after a choice has been made. Embrace it and adopt a new symbol. As people will embrace the new symbol, it (the loss of the old symbol) won’t have a significant effect.”
Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), commented on the loss of the “bow and arrow” emblem of his ally Uddhav Thackeray group on Friday and said it would not have a significant effect.
He emphasised as well that the populace will embrace the new symbol.
Once the Election Commission of India (ECI) decided to give the Eknath Shinde faction the party name “Shiv Sena” and the party emblem “Bow and Arrow,” Mr. Pawar made his statements.
The leader of the NCP urged Mr. Thackeray to adopt a new symbol and accept the decision of the Election Commission.
“The Electoral Commission made that choice. There can never be a discussion after a choice has been made. Embrace it and adopt a new symbol. Although people will accept it, the loss of the old symbol won’t have a significant impact (the new symbol). Simply put, it would be discussed for the ensuing 15–30 days “explained Mr. Pawar.
He mentioned how the Congress had to alter its old symbol, which was two bullocks pulling a yoke, and predicted that the public will embrace the new Uddhav Thackeray faction symbol in the same way they did the Congress’ new one.
“I recall that Indira Gandhi also encountered similar challenge. A “two bullocks with a yoke” emblem was once used by Congress. They later lost it and replaced it with the word “hand,” which was well received by the public. In a similar vein, the public will accept the new emblem for the Uddhav Thackeray faction “he stated.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday assigned the party name “Shiv Sena” and the emblem “Bow and Arrow” to the side of the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, dealing a severe blow to the Uddhav Thackery group.
The Uddhav Thackeray faction said that they would petition the Supreme Court, while the Shinde faction applauded the decision to recognise them as the legitimate Shiv Sena.
The Eknath Shinde group earlier today lit fireworks and rejoiced in Nashik following an order from the Election Commission.
The Uddhav Thackeray faction criticised the Election Commission’s decision as evidence that “it acts as a BJP agent” and accused it of acting in haste.
The Shiv Sena party’s present constitution has been “mutilated to undemocratically designate members from a coterie as office bearers without any election at all,” the Commission noted in its ruling. Such party institutions, it was claimed, lack credibility.
Uddhav Thackeray referred to the election panel’s judgement as “death of democracy” and said he will appeal it to the Supreme Court.
“They should start by comprehending Balasaheb. They now understand that, in Maharashtra, Modi’s face is no longer attractive, so they must cover their faces with Balasaheb’s mask for their own gain. I have previously stated that the ECI shouldn’t make a conclusion prior to the SC ruling. If the number of MLAs and MPs determines the party’s existence, any capitalist can buy an MLA, MP, or become the CM, “During a news conference, Uddhav Thackeray stated.
He claimed that they will visit them and that the public supports them. “We will undoubtedly appeal this EC order to the Supreme Court. We are certain that the SC will overturn this ruling “said Mr. Thackeray.
Balasaheb Thackeray, the father of Uddhav Thackeray, founded the Shiv Sena.
